The importance of refreshing our look online

The Internet has come a long way since Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, launched the first website in August 1991. There are now 22.31 million internet users in Australia (January 2021) and as a nation we spend nearly forty hours per week online. It’s fair to say that the internet is, for many of us, a part of daily life and for any business, having an online presence in 2021 is more important than ever. 

Here at True North we have had a dedicated website since 2015 and we knew it was time for an update. The previous website was fit for purpose however our business has evolved along with our client’s needs. At the start of 2021 we decided it was time to revaluate the look and feel of our site to ensure it resonates with our brand and client base. Since then we have been working closely with Webb and Flow, a Northern Territory based web designer, who has the technical abilities and creative vision to help us achieve our online goals.

Our main goal for the design of our new website was simplicity with impact; simple and easy to use, engaging and informative. The result - a clean sleek design that is a little bit minimalist.  

Investing time and effort to getting the finished product right for the business was important. During design and editing it was vital to maintain focus on the objective of the website and align it to the initial vision desired from the outset.

As communication professionals, we know that the aim of any website is to highlight the products or services on offer and provide an insight into the business. While writing the text for the site we have been very aware our clients are often time poor and want to see results quickly. So our new website provides snapshots of our work. One way we provide this is through our News section, an area where our consultants explore topics of interest and allow readers to gain an insight into what we do and the topics we explore on a daily basis. We also highlight some of the projects we have been involved in ‘Case Studies’.

The True North website now has a clean sleek design, and we are thrilled with our new look and feel. Our website is, in our opinion, more relevant, consistent and accessible and by using analytics to keep a close eye on our reach and check on the pages that are getting the most interest, we can continue to provide visitors to our site with engaging content well into the future.
